Culture and heritage

The City of London Corporation oversees several important attractions and heritage sites, helping to preserve and share London's unique history. Volunteers can assist with exhibitions, welcome visitors, or help with educational programmes.
Green spaces

The City of London Corporation manages over 11,000 acres of green space across London and beyond, supported by numerous local volunteer groups and hundreds of volunteers annually. Opportunities range from garden maintenance to conservation projects, offering a rewarding way to enjoy nature while helping to conserve these vital spaces.

City Community Befriending scheme

The Community Befriending project run by Volunteer Centre Hackney project provides companionship to residents in the City of London experiencing loneliness and social isolation by matching them with volunteer befrienders.
To become a befriender, all you need is an hour a week to check in with a vulnerable member of your community. You will be matched with the right person based on your interests, preferred language and whether you would like to meet in-person, or speak on the phone/online. Full training and ongoing support provided.

Step Up Mentoring programme

The Step Up Mentoring programme, funded by the City Corporation and delivered by OMG Education, connects care-experienced young Londoners with experienced professionals working in the Square Mile. Through one-to-one mentoring, participants can develop their networks, enhance their skills, build confidence, and improve career prospects. Mentor recruitment is now open.
