Resident involvement is how you, as a City of London Corporation tenant or leaseholder, can influence what services you receive from us. You are the best people to tell us what works well and where we can do better, and your involvement makes a real difference.

Throughout the year we run a number of consultations, surveys and open meetings so you can express your views and opinions.

If you would like to take part in consultations, visit the City Corporation Commonplace.

To keep up to date with events and projects happening on your estate visit the Housing Communications page.

The Resident Involvement team work to support our residents and communities on our estates. We support resident, City of London Corporation and partner-led community initiatives, resident consultation and involvement in City Corporation Housing services and resident communications. We also run two community centres, the Golden Lane Community Centre and the Portsoken Community Centre, with help from two resident and stakeholder advisory boards.

We both run and support our colleagues with resident engagement and consultations on Housing related services and policies. As a few examples, this can be anything from engaging residents in discussions around particular policies, supporting workshops and webinars on particular topics or projects, engaging residents in the commissioning process for new services or surveys of resident opinions. We have also worked on developing and co-designing documents and communication materials. The Resident Involvement team also supports our formal Resident Associations on our estates.

The Resident Involvement team also runs two community centres in the City, the Golden Lane Community Centre and the Portsoken Community Centre. These are both run on the same model, with resident and stakeholder advisory boards meeting regularly to discuss the way the centres aims and how it can help meet the needs of the community in which they sit.

Our estates have a range of activities and events that you can be involved in throughout the year. We can also support you to run your own events and activities on your estate. We can also support residents to establish a formal Resident’s Association for the estate if one doesn’t exist. You can also get involved in:

  • Volunteering opportunities, such as in one of our community centres
  • Earning Time Credits for setting up a group or helping your community through a wide array of activities and volunteering opportunities For full details on how time credits work, where you can earn and spend them, see the We are Tempo website.
  • Or why not run your own coffee morning or get together? The team will be there to support you however you need, just get in touch!
  • To find out what is happening on your estate please contact your Resident Services Officer, or email the Community Engagement Team

In May 2025, we launched a new engagement platform for City of London Corporation residents called Commonplace.

The City of London Corporation Housing Commonplace is an online hub for consulting with residents and you will be able to find information and consultations on a wide variety of Housing topics and policies. We want to make sure that we involve, communicate with, and listen to residents effectively and we want to understand what residents think about our services and your neighbourhood.

All future consultation and engagement opportunities will now be launched or advertised through our Commonplace site, including in-person opportunities. If you’d like to be involved and provide feedback on our services, policies, and activities, please sign up to receive updates directly through Commonplace.

Your feedback is important to us and listening and responding to your feedback allows us to continuously improve.

In Autumn 2025, City of London Corporation Housing is launching our Resident Voice Group. We are looking for residents to express their interest and apply to become a Resident Voice Group member. The Resident Voice Group will be a group that meets quarterly to review Housing performance data, scrutinise our services such as repairs, estate services and compliance, examining their delivery and working with us to set strategic aims and objectives. The Group will be jointly chaired by a resident voted for by the group, and Peta Caine, Director of Housing. Heads of Service, contractors and other staff will be invited by the group to discuss their areas of service.

The resident chair will also represent the group at the Housing Management and Almshouses Sub committee, providing a direct link between the Resident Voice Group and the dedicated committee for City Corporation Housing.

The Resident Voice Group membership will be made up of two thirds tenants and one third leaseholders from all our housing estates. We will meet in person on a weekday evening with an option to join online. Residents will be able to claim shopping vouchers for their time, as well as travel and childcare expenses.

We are looking for residents who have a strong interest in working with the City Corporation Housing team and other residents to help make improvements to our services, while participating with responsibility, integrity and respect, ensuring that the Group can be a successful and impactful. We want residents keen to review our work at the strategic level, bringing a user perspective to the big picture of all our work.

If you are interested in joining the Resident Voice Group, or if you have any further questions, please email the Resident Involvement team with your name and address, whether you are a leaseholder or tenant, and a short paragraph (max 250 words) explaining why you would like to join the Group.
