Golden Lane Estate
About the estate
Completed in the mid-1960s, Golden Lane Estate is in the City of London, and sits adjacent to the Barbican Estate and internationally-famous Barbican Arts Centre. The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the Golden Lane Estate.
This Grade II housing estate was inspired by Le Corbusier's Maisons Jaoul. Hard-landscaped areas on different levels respond to the varying forms of surrounding buildings while simple gradations of privacy are achieved without walls, gates or railings. Winner of Housing Design Award. The Estate Office is located in Great Arthur House and is closed between 1-2pm for lunch.
