City of London Youth Forum
The City Youth Forum is a group of young people who work together to make the City of London a better place to live, work and study for young people. The group is chaired by our Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) and deputy, and our members set the focus and agenda.
Whether you want to improve the environment, reduce bullying, get involved with projects, make new friends or you see yourself as a future prime minister, there is a place for you in our Youth City Forum. We want to utilise your skills and help you gain more. The forum meets monthly.
We know that life can be busy. That is why how much time you have to offer is your choice. There are three levels of membership.

City of London Member of Youth Parliament election process 2026 now open for applications
To be eligible to apply you must be :
- Be aged 11 to 17 when your term of office starts on 2 April 2026
- Live, work or volunteer for a minimum of 14 hours per week or be in Education for more than the equivalent of three school days per week with the square mile of the City.

UK Youth Parliament Manifesto
As part of the process to stand as an Member of Youth Parliament you will need a manifesto.
For this, you'll need to put together a few words on two issues that are important to you, and why you believe you would be good as the MYP for the City of London. For example education, cost of living, bullying, sexual health, drugs, the environment, or anything you believe is important.
There will be a template provided with the application pack. Please contact City@prospects.co.uk as soon as possible if you need any support or help to produce your manifesto.
Election timeline for submission of Manifesto please send your completed Manifesto form by 5.00pm, 27 February 2026 by emailing City@prospects.co.uk.
The manifesto form should be sent in with the signed parent/guardian consent form and a photo of yourself. Confirmation of you as election candidate.
You will be contacted to discuss your application, confirm eligibility, and provide an opportunity for you to ask any questions.
This will be by telephone between 2 and 6 March 2026.
If your eligibility to stand for election is confirmed and you have no last-minute change of mind you will be confirmed as a candidate for election.
Election period
The election period will run from 7 to 18 March 2026.
This is the opportunity for young people who are aged 11-18 (up to 25 with a Special Educational Needs) who live, work or study in the City of London (Square Mile) to vote via text for the candidate and manifesto they would like to represent them.
A summary of each candidate’s manifesto, plus photo will be available on the City of London website and the opportunity to vote will be widely promoted across the City through schools, community centres and more.
The Member of Youth Parliament for the City of London will be confirmed on Friday 27 March 2026. The candidate with the most votes will be notified that they are the Member of Youth Parliament, and the young person with the second most votes will be selected as the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament.
Time commitment: Around 30 minutes every three months.
We will call on you to ask you for your views and opinions on things that impact you and other young people. Answer our polls with as much or little information as you want. This option is best for those who don’t have time to attend meetings but still want to have their voice heard.
Time commitment: Around four hours per month.
Join our City Youth Forum as a standing member, attending monthly forum meetings and getting involved in change and social action to make a difference for yourself and all young people who live, work or study in the square mile. We sometimes meet in person or online.
Time commitment: Up to six hours per month.
Once you have been a member of the forum for a little while, you will have the opportunity to take on a leadership position. This will allow you to drive change about issues that are important to you and your friends and gain leadership skills and experience. If you are ambitious and passionate about improving the lives of your friends and other young people in the City of London, you could be our next Member of Youth Parliament.

- You live, work, study or volunteer in the City of London
- You are aged 11-19 (or up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities or a care leaver)
- You care about the future for young people in the City of London
