Planning your visit to New Spitalfields Market

General Information

New Spitalfields Market is open to all customers who wish to purchase wholesale quantities of fresh produce (e.g., box quantities rather than retail levels per kilo). It is a trade-to-trade environment and operates similarly to most industrial sites, with significant vehicle movement.

During busier times, particularly at midnight opening, it can be difficult for large groups of customers to navigate the site. Therefore, visiting later during trading hours, when it is less crowded, may suit occasional visitors to the Market.

Not all traders deal in smaller quantities and may offer pallet or container-sized orders only - please respect this where indicated.

You will find the official Site Rules posted across the Market along with Market plans issued by the City of London Corporation. Please familiarise yourself with these so that you are aware of how the site operates. They are also available upon request by emailing the City of London team

Exit fees apply to all vehicles during the trading hours of midnight-11am, please visit the Entry and Exit to New Spitalfields Market pages for more information.

Health and safety

The following are conditions-of-entry must be observed at all times:

  • Children under the age of 12 are not allowed on site.
  • A yellow Hi-Viz vest must be worn at all times. You may be refused entry if you are not wearing one. Vests can be purchased from the Market Security Team (Constabulary) for £3, at the site entrance.
  • You should use the marked pedestrian walkways and pedestrian crossing points.
  • Appropriate safety footwear is recommended.
