The City of London Corporation's work in support of financial and professional services: annual review 2025/2026
The financial and professional services (FPS) industry is a cornerstone of the UK’s economy. As the largest net exporter of financial services, and Europe’s top destination for foreign direct investment, the UK’s FPS sector is a global leader.
The City of London Corporation acts on behalf of the UK-wide FPS sector. We work to ensure that the sector thrives domestically and to promote its global competitiveness. This underpins growth and investment across the country.
Our latest Annual Review highlights key achievements from the past year:
- Catalysing investment across the UK: through the Office for Investment: Financial Services we aim to attract £10bn of international investment. The Mansion House Accord will unlock £25bn in domestic pension fund investment for infrastructure and high-growth sectors.
- Strengthening the UK’s leadership in sustainable finance: we are empowering firms and capital providers to act with confidence – identifying credible opportunities to scale transition. The Transition Finance Council’s draft guidelines and other resources are setting the direction globally.
- Securing growth through a digital economy: our work is helping to close the digital talent gap by identifying a £3.3bn opportunity to mobilise mid‑career women into digital roles. We are driving innovation, including in AI and digital verification.
This work continues: partnering with industry and policymakers, at home and globally. Driving dynamic economic growth in FPS will create jobs, attract investment, and support businesses UK-wide.
