Small Steps to getting active in the City of London

It’s important for your mental and physical wellbeing to keep active. And just ten minutes a day can help with conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve balance.

This spring, the City Corporation is encouraging all residents to get active as a family and create unforgettable memories in the City. The idea is to take Small Steps to be active, your way, everyday.

Aim for 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise that makes you feel warmer, breathe harder, and makes your heart beat faster. On two days a week, do something that works your muscles such as yoga, exercise with weights, or carrying heavy shopping.

Why not explore our parks, playgrounds and sport facilities during the weekends and after school/work?

There are plenty of things to do in the Square Mile:

Sport and activity participation survey

Help shape sport and fitness in the City of London!

How do you stay active in the Square Mile - through sport, fitness or other activities? We'd love to hear from you! Your feedback will help us create better programmes for our community.

The survey only takes a few minutes. Share your thoughts by 31 December, you can complete the survey here.

NHS Health Checks are designed to identify the early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.

City residents aged between 40 and 74 years old are eligible to complete an NHS Health Check. For more information speak to your GP.
