A Sewing Course with an emphasis on Individual Projects. You will be guided by your tutor to select a project which will develop your existing skills and explore new challenges. Built into these projects are sewing techniques, measuring, understanding commercial patterns, using a sewing machine to make seams, hems, buttonholes and put in zips. By the end of the course, learners should be able to work independently on an individual project.

Explore textiles and surface decoration through individual projects, including soft furnishing, clothes making, and accessories. Built into these projects are essential sewing techniques such as making seams, hems, zips, and buttonholes. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to experiment with different fabrics and embellishment methods to enhance your creations. By the end of the course, you should be able to work independently on an individual project, applying the techniques learned throughout the sessions.

Material fee is included in the course pricing, ensuring access to quality resources for all participants.

This beginner sewing course introduces basic skills for creating and repairing household and children’s items. Designed for parents and carers in a relaxed environment. No experience needed. Progression route: Level 1 Award in Creative Craft (Sewing & Textiles).

Time:  10am - 2pm

Venue: The Aldgate School

Fee per term: £20

To be eligible for funding on our free courses you should be a UK national or an EEA national with pre-settled or settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme and have been resident in the UK/EEA for the past three years. To be eligible for concessionary rates, you need to meet the aforementioned criteria and be 60 years of age or over, or be in receipt of Universal Credit Proof may be required, more information about this is on the enrolment form.
