On the Second Saturday of every month, Guildhall Art Gallery runs themed family events. Their revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.

Join Guildhall Art Gallery on 14 March for a special Second Saturday family day, celebrating the launch of their exciting new exhibition 'Underground (and Surface)' by artists Jock McFadyen and Jem Finer.

Step into a world where creativity meets the Underground in a hands‑on family session inspired by the exhibition’s immersive atmosphere, large-scale cityscapes, and enveloping soundscape.

11am to 4pm: bring your imagination to life with a range of drop‑in activities:

  • Craft making: design and decorate your very own Mother’s Day card to take home.
  • Art activities inspired by the exhibition: explore colour, texture, and movement in artworks inspired by the artists’ interpretations of London’s hidden and surface worlds.

There will also be a story zone with cushions, costumes, and soft play building bricks.

The activities are free; however, booking is encouraged as it helps the Gallery ensure they have enough resources for everybody. Walk-ins are welcome on the day. Walk-ins are welcome on the day.

The Guildhall Art Gallery is free to enter and offers plenty to explore, so plan to make a day of it. You can bring your lunch to enjoy outside in Guildhall Yard or in the gallery's large cloakroom area.

This event is for children aged 3 to 13 and their families. It is not suitable for individual adults.
