The Modern Mayoralty
The Modern Mayoralty: Relevant, Resilient, Recognisable.
The Mayoral programme is called The Modern Mayoralty. With the approval of the Court of Aldermen and supported by the two Sheriffs as part of the wider Civic Team, the Mayoralty will move away from annual themes, focussing instead on the mayoralty’s enduring purpose: acting as an ambassador for the UK’s Financial and Professional Services sector, aligning with government and industry to drive economic growth. This long-term, collaborative approach is designed to ensure that the mayoralty remains relevant, resilient and recognisable to stakeholders.
Mayoral plans align to four key pillars:
- Global Leadership - Enable London to remain respected as the No 1 pre-eminent global centre for international finance, commerce, and professional services.
- Reputation – Enhance the national and international reputation and standing of the City of London, the Mayoralty, the City of London Corporation, and the UK to enable all to maintain their impact.
- Business Growth – Promote the conditions necessary for business growth and profitability for financial and professional services and other businesses within the City of London and beyond.
- Social Impact – Ensure a philanthropic and positive social impact for the City.
These pillars provide a consistent framework for activity, with content driven by City of London Corporation, industry and His Majesty's Government strategic priorities.
